How to choose the correct Digital Signage Display Size

When implementing any Digital Signage system one of the most important things you need to decide is choosing the correct display size for your target area.  Installing the largest screen you can possibly get is not necessarily always the best choice and there is an ideal size depending on the room size and the average viewing distance of the audience.  Just imagine watching a movie in the front row of the theater.  There is just too much filling up your entire field of vision for you to effectively process what is going on in the screen.

Choosing too large of  a screen readers run into problems trying to properly read the sign.  A screen too small also creates a problem with the readers trying to properly read what is on the sign.

The major factors you should consider when choosing your screen size include:
  • Distance between the display and your target audience.
  • The size of the area in which you are installing the sign
  • Where the display is installed
  • The application
32" screens are ideal for small environments with a minimum distance of 6 ft.
40-42" screens accommodate are able to service a larger audience, the viewing angles are improved and the optimal viewing distance is 8ft.
46" screens ideal for larger audiences in an open area with a minimum viewing distance of 10ft.
50"-65" are extra large with a minimum viewing distance of 12'-15'.

  1. Bigger is not always better. You want the audience to be able to read the information easily and comfortably!
